School Readiness

Our 1:1 School Readiness Programs, suitable for children aged 3-5, run for 2-3 hours at your discretion, with one of our dedicated Therapy Assistants. All of our individualised programs are designed and overseen by qualified Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners specialising in early childhood.

With over 40 weeks of material, based on a preschool life skills curriculum, this program ensures your child is learning all of the essential skills and independence to successfully meet the requirements of the NSW kindergarten curriculum.

Each child receives an individualised assessment and personalised goals. Progress towards these goals will be reported on weekly in your personal communication app.

At Freedom Social Skills, our School Readiness Programs work on the development of the following essential skills for learning:

  • Social skills and play skills
  • Indendence with learning
  • Early academic skills
  • Emotional regulation skills
  • Communication skills
  • Fine motor/gross motor skills

Children are given the chance to learn and build on early social skills such as play, language, turn-taking and requesting from peers. We also focus on developing school readiness skills, such as following instructions and completing tasks, in addition to socio-emotional skills, such as expressing emotions and wants/needs in appropriate ways. Children will also be engaged in fine motor and gross motor activities including sports, crafts and academic skills.

Benefits of our School Readiness Programs:

A 1:1 School Readiness Program, where each child receives individual attention and support from an educator or specialist, offers numerous benefits. Here are some key advantages:

  1. Personalised learning: Each child’s unique learning style and pace can be accommodated. This individualised attention allows educators to tailor activities and instruction to the child’s specific needs and interests.
  2. Early identification of needs: Individualised programs make it easier to identify and address any developmental delays or learning difficulties early on. This can lead to timely interventions and support.
  3. Increased engagement: Children often engage more actively when they receive one-on-one attention. The personalised interaction can make learning more enjoyable and motivating.
  4. Enhanced skill development: Focused attention allows educators to concentrate on developing specific skills that the child needs, whether they’re academic, social, or emotional.
  5. Boosted confidence: Children who receive individual support can gain confidence as they master skills at their own pace without feeling overshadowed by peers.
  6. Improved behaviour: With tailored support and clear expectations, behavioural issues may decrease. Children often respond well to the structure and attention, leading to better classroom behaviour.
  7. Stronger relationships: One-on-one interactions help build strong, trusting relationships between the child and the educator, which can positively impact the child’s overall well-being and attitude towards learning.
  8. Flexible scheduling: Individual programs can often be more flexible in scheduling, allowing for adjustments based on the child’s needs and family situation.
  9. Parental involvement: Parents can be more closely involved in their child’s learning process. With direct feedback from educators, they can better support their child’s development at home.
  10. Individualised assessments: Assessments can reflect the child’s abilities and progress accurately, providing a clearer picture of their readiness and areas needing attention.

Overall, a 1:1 School Readiness Program can create a supportive and nurturing environment that helps your child build a strong foundation for future academic and social success.
